THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) –The Thomas University campus in Thomasville is about to get bigger.

Officials say the university will purchase an old school complex known as the Magnolia School this Friday.

The Magnolia School used to serve as Thomasville's all-black high school during segregation.

The decision to buy the complex comes after months of meetings with community members, some who protested the purchase of the site by people who have no ties to the community.

The university plan to use the new addition for student dorms and a sports complex.
