ALBANY, GA (WALB) – Camilla Police have received nearly a half dozen calls from people who believe they may have been scammed by a man posing as a legal consultant to an Albany attorney.
Attorney Leonard Farkas told us he never employed this man known as Antony or Anthony Sessions to drum up businesses for his law practice. Police claim Sessions is offering criminal defendants legal representation by Farkas, then pocketing the up-front money. Farkas told us Sessions apparently handed out businesses cards with his practice on them. Farkas says he's lost money over the issue.
"I think if it's true he's very dishonest. Of course what these people are supposed to have paid me, they paid to him, actually I never got it so they weren't really paying me anything they still owe me, but I would never try to collect it from them because if they paid him that much money they wouldn't have any more money I wouldn't attempt to sue them for it I'm just out," said Attorney Leonard Farkas.
Farkas says he also received a complaint from the Bar Association from an Americus woman who claims she hired Farkas through Sessions and Farkas never turned up in court. Farkas says he had no information or file that the woman had ever retained him to represent her family member.
