ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The Westover High Patriots will get an unexpected day off.

Tuesday's home basketball game against Crisp County has been postponed since Crisp County schools remained closed following Monday's ice storm.

Dougherty County School System athletic director Johnny Seabrooks says the schools are working on re-scheduling the 1-AAA game.

One issue is the GHSA rule prohibiting teams from playing on more than one school night in the same week.

Also, high school basketball returns to the Civic Center Friday with middle school teams in action.

Merry Acres and Dougherty Middle Schools will play first with the girls game at 4:00 p.m. and at 5:30 p.m. the boys will play.

Monroe will play Westover girls at 7:00 p.m. and the Monroe/Westover boys will take the court at 8:30 p.m.

This is the second 1-AAA region game Monroe has lost to the Civic Center.
