ALBANY,  GA (WALB) –  As firefighters continue to make sure the house is safe from the fire that damaged it earlier this morning, investigators are removing documents related to the childcare business that was operating there.

Firefighters responded to the house fire on 1604 Stuart Avenue at 5:30AM. The family had no idea the smoke was coming from inside the home. Even more surprising they say all electrical devices were off inside the home, when the blaze started.

Firefighters blocked off the street in front of the home to lay water lines. The homeowners told us they were smelled smoke for about three hours.

Firefighters are still investigating the cause of fire, which did not cause any injuries.

At 9:25, traffic was still blocked in the 1600 block of Stuart Avenue. Drivers should use alternate routes.
