(Atlanta) The Georgia Department of Transportation is discouraging all unnecessary travel Sunday night and Monday.
Snow, sleet, freezing rain and sustained temperatures below freezing are expected to cause extremely hazardous driving conditions throughout the advisory area.
Significant accumulations of snow are possible from the Metro Atlanta area through North Georgia; dangerous icing is expected across the entire advisory area.
The areas affected almost certainly include Middle and North Georgia; possibly extending as far south as along a line roughly from Albany to Tifton to Savannah.
Georgia DOT has marshaled all available assets from throughout the state and will respond in strength but encourages the public to refrain from all but absolutely necessary driving until at least Tuesday.
