ALBANY, GA (WALB) –   Organizers of a big gun show in Albany this weekend expect larger crowds because people are arming themselves against crime.

The GunRunners Show company from Augusta is putting on the gun and knife show at the Exchange Club fairgrounds. They say many of their customers, especially the women, are buying guns because of crime.

"Gun sales increase along with increasing crime rates. So you see that all over? All over the state of Georgia," said Monica Severson of the GunRunners Show.

Gun show officials say they expect more than two thousand people to attend this weekend. The gun show runs from 9 to 5 Saturday, and 10 to 5 on Sunday at the Exchange Club fairgrounds, and admission is $8.00.
