ALBANY, GA (WALB) –  Two Dougherty County Schools are making good grades on the state's assessment.  Lincoln Elementary Magnet Schools and Robert Cross Middle Magnet School were recognized in the Georgia Single Statewide Accountability System report.

Both Lincoln and Robert Cross scored in the highest Performance category with Lincoln getting a bronze and Robert Cross scoring a gold.

The program rewards schools for their performance on state curriculum exams and Adequate Yearly Progress. 345 schools were recognized, school officials attribute the honors to parent involvement.

"We're very proud of both of these schools," said DCSS Public Information Officer  R. D. Harter. "The one thing that's typical of the schools that are in the highest performance and the greatest gains areas are that they have extreme parent involvement, extremely high parent involvement."

School officials say schools honored go on to be consider for the National Blue Ribbon Awards.

Lee County also had two schools that made the list.
