Phoebe Putney is crowded with flu patients

By Ben Roberts - bio | email

ALBANY, GA (WALB) – Georgia has been hit harder by the flu than any other state so far this season. There are a lot more patients at Phoebe Putney than normal right now because they're treating so many people with the flu.

Phoebe Chief Operating Officer Joe Austin said, "as of this morning, there were 373 people in a bed at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital, and we have a bed capacity of 440, so for a hospital to run a capacity that high, it's very very full."

On an average day, Phoebe has about 310 patients.
