Lady Cavs ready for conference opener

ALBANY, GA (WALB) - With just two returning players with any experience, Darton basketball coach Laura Blackwell knew her team this year would have some growing pains.

Laura Blackwell said. "They are doing a real good job of pulling the girls together and actually make them aware of the challenges that are ahead. We have made mistakes and we learn from them. So, now we have really got to concentrate, focus and find a way to eliminate those."

Darton hosts East Georgia College on Cavalier Night at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.

Head coach Laura Blackwell is not looking in the rear view mirror.

She knows conference wins and making the conference tournament, which Darton is hosting, is what counts each and every season.

The coach believes the tough non-conference schedule and the leadership of her two returning sophomores will have her squad ready for conference action.

The coach hopes the pains are over when the Lady Cavaliers open conference play at home Friday against East Georgia College.
