It was a fatal weekend on South Georgia Roads.

Mitchell County emergency crews worked a fatal crash that killed a young woman, 19-year-old Jasmine Nichole Wade of Bainbridge just before 8 Sunday evening.

The one vehicle wreck happened on Highway 112 near mile marker 22.

Troopers say the driver, Wade, was traveling north on Highway 112 when her car left the road and hit a tree. Wade was killed. Her passenger, 19-year-old Quarmeisha Loman, also of Bainbridge, was taken to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.

The Georgia State Patrol is investigating. They still don't know what caused Wade to lose control.

"They were both wearing their seat belts in the pick up truck. The passenger was on the cell phone texting or talking, we did confirm that. But the driver did not even have a cell phone," said Trooper Will West.

Loman is in good condition at Phoebe.

Troopers say they've worked other crashes in the past involving the same exact tree. Over the holiday travel period 12 people died on Georgia roads. Five of those fatalities were in Southwest Georgia.
