VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) –Murders in Valdosta are down this year.

With three days left in the new there's been four murders.

Michael McCaskill died in february at a Lakeland Care facility after being beaten to death.

This summer Xazyvia Calloway was gunned down in a lot next to the House Bar and John Golden was shot and killed as he stood on the front porch of his Nardo Street home.

Christmas Eve Charlotte Grant was beaten to death after a domestic dispute.

"We encourage people to call the crime tip line and let us know what's going on," said Valdosta Police Capt. Bobbi McGraw.  "We can't be everywhere at all times and people are the eyes and ears in Valdosta they know wha'ts going on so let us know let us deal with the issues any crime whatsoever."

Arrests have been made in all the murders in 2010. Last year, there were ten murders in Valdosta.
