THOMAS COUNTY, GA (WALB) -

THOMAS COUNTY, GA (WALB) –Thomas County authorities charged a teenager for his role in several attempted and successful auto thefts.

Sheriff's deputies say 19-year old Kadeem Smith first tried stealing a truck stored inside Stephens Motorcars by ramming it into a rolling garage door.

When that didn't work, he tried to steal a vehicle parked outside. Again, he failed in his attempt but officers later found Smith's fingerprints on a stolen vehicle overturned in a ditch on U.S. 19 south, much to the owner's disbelief.

"The registered owner said no, that vehicle is parked outside," Lt. Steve Jones of the TCSO told us. "But it wasn't, it had been stolen."

Smith is charged with burglary, auto theft, attempted auto theft and two counts of entering auto, all felonies.

Authorities tell us he has had a history of burglary and auto theft since he was a juvenile.
