ALBANY, GA (WALB) -One Albany couple is out an air conditioner and several thousand dollars after copper thieves swiped an entire unit from the property.

Samuel and Gloria Carter were at home Christmas Eve when they noticed someone messing with their A/C unit.

Mr. Carter caught the thief in the act, but he ran off with the unit. Due to the way the unit was stripped, it's owner says this likely wasn't a one-man-job.

"I think that was really low," said Samuel Carter. "Some say it's the economy but I think it's laziness."

Their heat is still working. Since the A/C and heat are duel units they may have to replace both.
