Ocilla, GA (WALB) -- Tara Grinstead, the missing school teacher and former beauty queen, is now officially presumed dead.

The action came this month in the Irwin County Probate court.  Officials described the action as a formality so the family can handle her estate.

The 27 year old disappeared mysteriously October 22, 2005 and was the subject of a huge search that never yielded a clue as to what happened to her.

The case drew national media attention.

The action of the probate court does not change the status of the case being investigated by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and Ocilla police.
