SYLVESTER, GA (WALB) –Investigators in Sylvester believe they're close to making an arrest in a debit card fraud case in which more than 200 people's debit card information was stolen.

Investigators are working closely with the Secret Service on this case that affected customers at every bank in Sylvester as well as some banks in Leesburg and Albany.

Police still aren't sure exactly how the card information was stolen.

People have reported hundreds even thousands of dollars missing from their accounts.

Lately, the number of people coming forward has slowed.

"We just encourage everyone whenever you use any type of debit card or credit card just to be cautious of where you use it and be cautious of your surroundings," said Investigator Calvin Cleveland.

Investigators also encourage folks to check their credit card statements regularly for any unusual activity.
