ALBANY, GA (WALB) –Albany Police make sure families in need have a Merry Christmas meal.

Officers and their AmeriCorps Cadets delivered Christmas Holiday food boxes to ten families Monday.

The food boxes contained complete turkey dinners for the entire family.

A-P-D officers donated the money to pay for the Christmas meals.

Patrol Officer Brandi Chester said "I think it's important for our department to get out here in the community, not only for the people's time of need, but also in their joyous celebrations. It's important for us to get out here and build community relations and just give back to the community."

Albany Police will also take children shopping for toys Tuesday morning.
