ALBANY, GA (WALB) – Children in foster care attended a special party just for them.

The party was for 18-foster children with Dougherty County DEFACS. They ran exercise drills at World Camp Fitness Saturday afternoon.

The exercised themed party was organized with the help of Miss Historic Southern Plains Carly Mathis who is competing in the Miss Georgia competition next year.

Her platform is heart health.

"I chose the American Heart Association as my platform because two of my grandparents have been touched by heart disease my grandfather died from heart disease, my grandmother has had open heart surgery. It runs in my family and I wanted to show young children how important it is to live a healthy lifestyle," said Carly Mathis, Miss Historic Southern Plains.

All the children received gifts and got a chance to meet mister and misses Clause.
