ALBANY,  GA (WALB) – Dozens of people at the Albany Rescue Mission enjoyed a Christmas party just for them Wednesday night.

Members of the Ark Sunday school class from First United Methodist Church put on the party for the 18th year.  They say the guests of honor really appreciate it.

"They come through and they'll shake your hand, and they're like 'how are you doing' and 'merry Christmas.' We have Christmas punch which is Sprite and 7-up with lime sherbet, and they'll come through and say 'oh, I haven't had this since I was a kid' or 'oh, that brings back such good memories," said volunteer Juanita Golden.

After Wednesday night's normal worship service, around 75 people at the mission enjoyed fellowship and lots of Christmas goodies.

The Sunday school volunteers even provided soup and sandwiches for folks to take with them.
