Civilian Marines return from deployment

ALBANY,  GA (WALB) – Three civilian Marines returned from deployment Wednesday night, just in time for Christmas.

Robert Smith met his daughters and mother at Southwest Georgia Regional Airport after serving 13 months in Kuwait.

He works at Maintenance Center Albany and says it was an honor to serve overseas for the first time.  He'll go back on another deployment in a few weeks but says being away from his family is tough.

"It's hard. Like anything else, but I like being over there," said Robert W. Smith with the Maintenance Center Albany.

Two other civilian workers returned from Afghanistan Wednesday night, Charles Tinson and Brandon Pate.

More are scheduled to return Friday, which is perfect timing with Christmas and New Years right around the corner.
