ALBANY, GA (WALB) – An Albany family got quite a surprise Wednesday night when National Guard members showed up at their doorstep with Christmas presents and food.
The uniformed elves made their way inside with more than a dozen wrapped gifts.
Chasity Morgan is a single mom raising 3-year-old Payten and 7-year-old Chloe. She says she wouldn't have been able to give her girls the Christmas they deserve without the help.
"I about started crying when they first came in it was so wonderful. This has never happened and it was the best thing for me this year I've had a hard time," said Chasity Morgan.
Sgt. Ferlene Palmer with the National Guard Armory said, "It makes me feel good because I think everybody deserves something. And for anytime of the year but definitely during Christmas time."
The troops also brought boxes of canned goods. 7-year-old Chloe Morgan said it felt like Santa came early. Her mom said her girls have been good, and they deserve it.
