ALBANY, GA (WALB) –$15,000 in cash burned in a fire at a northwest Albany home Saturday night. A fire report indicated the cash was among the lost belongings in the fire.
Fire investigators say the fire was caused by an electrical short.
State fire marshall investigators were brought in because the owner of the Wexford Drive home, Brandon Carswell, is a relative of Albany Fire Chief James Carswell.
Firefighters estimated the damage at about $150,000, in addition to the family belongings and $15,000 in cash.
