THOMAS & GRADY COUNTY, GA (WALB) –Grady General Hospital workers continue to clean up after a deer crashed through a door Tuesday afternoon.

Hospital workers said the deer ran through the back door, down a hall and into a room, leaving behind an antler and trails of blood.

Wildlife officials say the deer was probably got spooked by something outside and ran to the nearest place for shelter.

They say if you're ever trapped inside with a wild deer, don't panic and help it find a way out.

"To calm them down, one approach if possible is try to turn down the lights. Darkness is very reassuring to them. It calms them down," explains Lorraine Conklin of the Androcles Society Wildlife Rescue & Rehab in Thomasville.

No one was hurt as the deer ran around panicked for about six minutes before finding an exit.

Animal control officers are searching for the deer because it can be a threat due to its injuries.

Grady Hospital's security cameras recorded the entire incident but officials are not releasing the tape.
