ALBANY, GA (WALB) –  The Department of Transportation has temporarily closed State Route 122 in Clinch County because of smoke from the Arabia Bay swamp fire.

The closure started Wednesday morning at 8:00 and will continue until the smoke clears. Route 122 is closed between Route 89 and Route 168 in Clinch County.

Motorists traveling in counties near Clinch County could also be affected by smoke. Drivers should exercise extreme caution at all times, particularly in smoke events and early mornings where smoke and fog may mix.

Drivers should be prepared for possible long delays, unscheduled road closures and detours. Georgia DOT urges travelers to call 511 for updated information about this fire.
