Packers overcome slow start

MOULTRIE, GA (WALB) - Colquitt County head coach Rush Propst said last week the season for his Packers football team has had its ups and downs.

Fortunately for the Packers the end of the season is an up.

Colquitt County will play Brookwood for the five a state title Saturday night at the Georgia Dome.

The Packers playing for the state championship after finishing the regular season 5 and 5 and coach Propst making some big changes to his coaching staff before the playoffs started.

Quarterback Tyler Brown says the team had their doubters after they started the season with three straight losses.

Tyler Brown said. "I had people in the school tell me we were going to go 0-10. We really never stopped working. Kept practicing. Fixed some things and got better."

Rush Propst said. "I think our football team did not feel like they played up to expectations during the year. They had something to do about it. Change our whole mentality come playoff time."

Colquitt County plays at 8:00 p.m. Saturday at the Georgia Dome against Brookwood in the AAAAA state final.

In Class A, Clinch County plays Savannah Christian at 1:00 p.m. Saturday.
