CAIRO, GA (WALB) –The Wiregrass Chapter of the American Red Cross is selling Christmas trees to raise money to buy an Emergency Response Vehicle and disaster trailer.

The Fraser Firs come in three sizes.

They're on sale in front of the Ford dealership in Cairo.

The Wiregrass Red Cross has worked 52 fires in their area this year, working with limited resources.

"But the good part is that when you buy a tree here you know it's going to return to help the Red Cross, so that's excellent," says John Paul Hasick, a board member of the Red Cross's Wiregrass Chapter.

Red Cross officials remind you to be careful with your Christmas trees, whether it's natural or artificial, to prevent house fires.

You can purchase one of their trees Monday through Friday from 3 to 6:30 and Saturday from 9:30 until 3.
