VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) –Valdosta celebrated its 150th birthday Tuesday.

The city got a warm birthday wish inside city hall.

Everyone got a slice of birthday cake and punch.

On December 7, 1860, the General Assembly established Valdosta.

The community turned out to celebrate and watched slide shows on the city's history.

"It means something to everyone," said Valdosta Mayor John Fretti. "This is their lives. This is our lives and so we need to celebrate where we come and where we're going."

The Valdosta City Hall building celebrated its 100th anniversary back in May.
