ALBANY, GA (WALB) –  Albany Technical College kicked off a year-long celebration of its 50th anniversary Tuesday.

Balloons decorated the Kirkland Conference Center along with three big cakes to mark the occasion as faculty, staff, students, and community partners gathered to celebrate. Albany Tech President Dr. Anthony Parker says the college has come a long way in 50 years, especially in the last 15 years.

"We have doubled the number of program we had even 15 years ago. We have grown graduates to where we graduate, 2,600, 2,700 students every year and 98 percent of those students go to work in field or a related field," said Dr. Anthony Parker, Albany Technical College President.

Over the next year, the school will host Homecoming and the dedication of the new Logistics Education Center and new Career Center. Community College Times just praised Albany Tech for the quality education they provide to students.
