ALBANY, GA (WALB) –About 9:30 Monday night another chimney fire damaged a Dougherty County home.

Henry and Selena Stephenson heard popping from the back room at their home in the 900 block of Shelton Drive, and found the wall around their fireplace on fire. The flames spread up into the roof before firefighters could put it out. The damage is estimated at $12000.

Firefighters urge South Georgians to have their chimney and fireplaces cleaned and inspected, and not to build too big or hot a fire in them during these freezing temperatures.
