AMERICUS, GA (WALB) - Volunteers got together to help wounded service men and women recover from injuries and disabilities.

First responders teamed up with Freedom Outdoor Adventures to host a dove hunt Sunday.

It was part of a weekend hunting challenge that included deer hunting Friday and Saturday.

WALB spoke to a soldier who suffered back injuries. He says the mental aspect of being out in nature is therapeutic to many wounded warriors.

"We had a good time," said Wounded Warrior, CJ Price. "It's great to get out of Fort Benning and hang out with these guys and have a good time. This is a good break for all of us."
