Pedestrian struck and killed on Ga. Highway 520 - WALB.com, Albany News, Weather, Sports

DAWSON, GA (WALB) – A 60-year old Sasser man was killed Wednesday evening when he was struck by a car while trying to cross the highway.

Troopers say Sam Mitchell was driving east on Georgia Highway 520 within the city limits of Dawson when he struck Jerome Leon Cheek a little before 7 o'clock Wednesday night.

Troopers say Cheek apparently just walked out into the path of the car.

Cheek was transported to Phoebe Putney Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
