ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Valdosta State linebacker Larry Dean has been named the Daktronics CoSIDA Super Region Two's defensive player of the year.
The senior linebacker at Tift County made 122 tackles in 11 games in his senior season.
Dean was named the Gulf South Conference's defensive player of the year and leaves the BlazersVSU as the school and record holder in career tackles.
Cornerback Stevie Harden and punter Jack Fulford were also named to the first team all-region team along with Larry Dean.
Harden tied an NCAA record by returning four interceptions for touchdowns.
Fulford averaged over 41 yards a punt this season.
Albany State center Michael Mavromichaelis was also named a first team all-region player.
Defensive end Jacob Hardwick and defensive back Prathon Wilkerson were second team all-region selections.
