ALBANY,  GA (WALB) –You've probably heard of Taebo, and Hip Hop Abs, but what about Zumba? It's an aerobic class where Latin beats and dance moves help you drop the extra pounds.

Over 10 million, people world wide are taking Zumba Classes. Since Zumba's start back in 2001 until now, it's spread to over 110 countries.

The routines use fast and slow rhythms, with weight training to sculpt your body. Basically, it's a party where you dance to lose weight.

Dancing doesn't have to be your forte, to take this class. "No, you don't have to be a good dancer to take this class," said Zumba Instructor Toni Barnes.

"This is more like your going to a party and you dance and enjoy yourself," said Spanish Teacher Tracey Shreves.

"It's hard at first, because you don't know the moves, but then once you get going it's easy," said Zumba Fanatic Alma Emanuel.

Tracey Shreves is from Jamaica. She's been coming to the party for about eight months. " I'm a Spanish teacher and the moves are Hispanic moves. I enjoy the language and the passion that comes with it," she said.

From salsa, to meringue and Reggae tone, it's hard not to fall in love with the moves or the music. "I love the people and the energy and I've lost weight and inches to," said Emanuel.

"I like the people in the class and the teacher is excellent. She really makes you want to get involved and into the moves," said Shreves.

Believe it or not in this class, people can actually benefit from shaking it fast. "Some of the benefits of people doing Zumba, are of course losing weight, improving your energy level, and overall a good feeling," said Barnes.

"In Zumba you have more fun. You don't feel stressed. Your just enjoying yourself," said Shreves.

The steps of Latin, mixed with a Caribbean feel, brings together the right fuel to get your motor going. "Zumba is international, so you find that the moves are from the Caribbean, Latin America, and South America," said Shreves.

Even though your burning calories, sticking to a healthy diet is up to you. " I eat a lot. But so far I've lost 10 pounds, I would lose a lot more, If I didn't eat so much," said Shreves.

So whether you can dance or not, ditch the workout and join the party. At the YMCA in Albany they offer Aqua Zumba, which is dance aerobics under water.

Tony's Gym on west over road offers two different Zumba classes five days a week. Regular and Zumba Gold, which is for senior citizens.

During a Zumba workout class, you can burn up to 1,000 calories. To find a Zumba class in your area visit http://www.zumba.com/us/.
