SMITHVILLE, GA (WALB)-A Dawson man speaks a day after he was rescued from a Lee County pond. The boat he was in capsized. His friend, 57-year-old Tommy Lee Owens, who was fishing with him Saturday afternoon didn't survive.

68-year-old CJ Jackson says their boat got stuck on a stump. When they tried to dislodge it, the boat flipped throwing both men into the water.

Jackson says he'll always remember Owens as a great friend who would help anyone.

"You couldn't beat him," Jackson said. "There's nothing he wouldn't do for you. He is such a nice guy."

Other than a little soreness in his shoulders from hanging on to the boat Jackson says he'll be okay.
