ALBANY, GA (WALB) –Four people are in jail after investigators discovered some of them burning hundreds of pounds of copper wire outside an Albany home.

Officers arrested 21-year old Curtis Mosley, 20 year old Porsha Luke and 23 year old Antonio Williams as they were burning commercial grade copper wire in a trash can at 401 Nona Drive. 28-year-old Shawna Flowers was arrested later charged with party to a Crime.

Officers say that type of wire could have come from a large factory or industry.

"If you burn this plastic off you get more money, if you just take it like this here you get less money so they prefer to burn it," said Sgt. Edward Heath, Albany Police.

Officers say the copper they discovered is valued anywhere from 2 to 4,000 dollars. They are asking for help identifying the copper wire you see in this video and to be on the lookout for anyone you see outside burning copper.
