ALBANY, GA (WALB) - People were snagging up some big deals at the Albany Mall. Shoppers showed up as early as midnight to shop at JC Penney which opened its doors at 3:00 a.m.

Store manager Joseph Iles says the soft opening before the advertised 4:00 a.m. time was set to work out kinks before the big rush.

People found deals on everything from boots and bags to clothes and home goods. Iles says he hired 65 more employees to help with the busy holiday season.

"We felt it was necessary to add some additional associates to help us with various things like fittings rooms, recovery, and replenishment," said JC Penney Store Manager, Joseph Iles.

Employees will be up late Friday night to prepare the store for an 8:00 a.m. opening Saturday.
