LAKELAND, GA (WALB) – A teenager is sentenced to life in prison for the firebombing murder of a 12-year old girl. Laquinta Bowens was killed in a fire in her Lakeland home in February 2009.
Monty Camon, who was 16 at the time of the crime, pleaded guilty to murder. He was scheduled to go on trial November 29. Prosecutors say he threw a Molotov cocktail into the home because of a trivial argument between families.
22-year old Tom McCutchin pleaded guilty to conspiracy and will spend 5 years in prison. Prosecutors say he knew about the firebombing but did not take part in it.
