Thanksgiving eve was busy for grocery stores

By Wainwright Jeffers - bio | email

ALBANY, GA (WALB) – Retail stores will be packed Friday. Wednesday it was the busy day for grocery stores.

It seemed like everyone had to make a last minute trip to the store.

We stopped by the Albany Piggly Wiggly and all lanes were open. Managers say traffic picked up the last few days.

They expect it to continue through Thanksgiving Day with people who forgot those last minute necessities.

"A lot of last minute things, rolls, cranberry sauce, everyone always forgets it until the last minute but we'll be busy Thanksgiving morning, we keep all of our registers open and have extra help in the departments to get our customers in and out as quickly as they can," Lisa Hood, Store Manager

Piggly Wiggly will be open from 7 to 4 Thanksgiving Day.
