ALBANY, GA (WALB) - A Lee County teenager hit by a car last Friday night has died.

16-year-old Nicholas Pender was crossing Philema Road north off Stocks Dairy Road in Lee County when he was struck by an SUV.

Pender sustained head injuries and was taken to the Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon where he died after a week in the intensive care unit.  State troopers believe Pender was walking to a convenience store when he was hit.

People we spoke to at the store, which is an Express Lane and Subway combined, say he was a great kid who they'll miss dearly.
