ALBANY,  GA (WALB) – A card game ends in gunfire in Northwest Albany. Now a teenager is in the hospital and Albany Police are searching for the gunman. 19-year-old Vorshawn Mannings is at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital recovering from a gunshot to his right leg.

Mike Oats was nearby when the shooting occurred.

"I thought it was you know a transformer blowing out I didn't expect for it to be a gunshot," he said.

Police say Mannings and four others were inside Apartment 135 at Nottingham North playing cards when they heard a knock at the door. Before someone could open it, the suspect forced the door open himself and starting shooting. Everyone scattered, but Manning was shot in the leg.

"I hate it happened to him I pray he gets better," said Oats.

Oats says the apartment complex is typically a quiet one. He's not used to the red and blue lights outside his door.

"I mean, I'm just shocked something like this happened," he said. "This is really becoming a problem in Albany."

Police are still investigating and so far no arrests have been made. This is the second Albany card game interrupted with gunfire in the past week.

Last Thursday police say two men tried to rob a group of poker players at their home on Woodcrest Drive but one of the victims pulled his own gun and shot the robbers. Those men are now in jail.

But the man responsible for the commotion and terror Sunday night on Nottingham Way is still out there.

Police say the suspect never actually got inside the apartment. Instead he just stood in the doorway and fired multiple shots inside. Police still don't have a motive or a description of the suspect at this time.
