THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) – A fallen soldier was brought home to Thomasville Sunday with as many as one thousand lining the procession route from Tallahassee to Thomas County.
Specialist Shannon Chihuahua was killed in Afghanistan last week after his unit came under fire from insurgents, he was 25-years-old.
Many who had no connection to the family took time this weekend to honor him the best way they could.
People dotted the road from the Tallahassee Airport with a parade of flags to honor the soldier.
"I'm thankful we can be here to support them because he has two small children. We can just be there for the family, we don't have to know each other to love and respect each other," said Susan Brown-Wright, Cairo Resident.
"I'm proud of our men and women that are sacrificing every day to allow us the freedom and privileged we have to be an American," Brandy Kirkham, Thomasville Resident.
Chihuahua is the second serviceman from Thomasville to loose his life and the fourth serviceman from our area.
