ALBANY, GA (WALB) –  Despite southwest Georgia's double digit unemployment rate, employers are looking for skilled laborers at Albany Technical College.

More than 50 southwest Georgia employers participated in Albany Tech's 12th annual Career Fair Friday at the Kirkland Conference Center. The fair offered Albany tech students and the unemployed a chance to fill out applications and even interview on the spot with employers. Palmyra Nursing Home was looking for several workers, especially nurses.

"Right now we are , the demand is so high. The nurses, they're out there in the field in different areas but we need LPN's and Certified Nursing Assistants right now," said Gwendolyn Tobie, Palmyra Nursing Home In-Service Director.

Wal-mart will set up a hiring site after the first of the year. They'll have several hundred positions available when the new East Albany Wal-mart location opens May 27th. You can always post your resume free, and search jobs in the Albany area at WALB-Job Link - dot com.
