ALBANY, GA (WALB) –   The paramedic of the year is Robbie Hand, an 8-year-veteran with Dougherty County E.M.S.

The training and safety officer is credited with seven individual life saves in the last year.

The Firefighter of the Year is Dwayne Mann, a part-time firefighter in his first year with the Department. He pulled an unconscious victim off the floor of a burning kitchen, dragging her to safety.

"It's said the greatest day in a firefighter's life is the day he joins the fire service. Everything from there is all in the line of duty. Any other firefighter in my position would have done the same," said Dwayne Mann, A.F.D. Firefighter of the Year.

"It's very rewarding. Very humbling to have the citizens reward you for that," said Robbie Head, Dougherty E.M.S. Paramedic of Year.

Mann is training to become a paramedic as well as a firefighter.

Mann and Head were both presented a plaque and a check by the Albany Exchange Club.
