VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) –Firefighters believe an arsonist set two fires inside a Valdosta apartment complex.

When firefighters got to Caroline Apartments on Williams Street around 4:30 Tuesday morning, they found a burning tire in one of the stairwells.

A second fire was burning in another stairwell where some kind of accelerant was poured and ignited.

A woman who lives there heard a smoke detector going off and called 9-1-1.

Most of the damage was from the smoke.

No arrests have been made.
