THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) –Thomasville's Salvation Army is looking for volunteers to brave cold temperatures and ring some bells this holiday season.

Their annual Red Kettle Campaign is underway but they still need volunteers to man the kettles.

The money raised helps families in need including toys for children. Without volunteers, organizers must pay people to ring bells using part of the donations they raise.

"The Red Kettle campaign continues farther than Christmas which allows us to help people through the community multiple times a year," explains Lt. Jonathon Howell, the commanding officer. "So not just Christmas but also people who are in need of utility bills, power bills, food, clothes. This money goes to help that."

Thomasville's Kettle campaign runs for six weeks and ends December 24th.

If you're interested in becoming a bell ringer, call 229-226-3772.
