ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Lee County is back in the state playoffs for the first time in three years.

Not this year where Lee County has earned their trip to the postseason with a third place finish in region 1-AAAA.

The Trojans face a big hurdle in the first round.

Lee County is on the road to face the Griffin Bears.

The Bears have been ranked second in AAAA until last week when they lost to Starr's Mill in the region championship game.

Lee County head coach Dean Fabrizio knows Griffin is a team loaded with college prospects.

But his Trojans have some talent also and their region schedule has prepared them for the postseason.

Dean Fabrizio said. "It seems like each week now for the last half of the season we have had a big game. It is another big one this week. We have almost played a who's who of storied programs in georgia this year with Northside, Warner Robins, Thomas County Central and now a great program like Griffin."

Game time is 7:30 p.m. Friday in Griffin.

Of course in 2007 the Trojans were automatic qualifiers in a four team region.
