ALBANY, GA (WALB) – The Albany State Marching Rams are going to Atlanta to perform in the "Honda Battle of the Bands."
The Rams are one of eight bands chosen from Historically Black Collages and Universities. There will be a total of 45 bands in the competition.
Along with the honor of being chosen to participate, Honda will give the ASU Music Program $1,000 for qualifying for the competition.
The university will get another $20,000 for music scholarships.
"We definitely need more scholarship money. That will help students, particularly low income students, assist them to matriculate to Albany State. Equipment like new drums, new amplifiers, and those sorts of things. Twenty thousand dollars will go along way and help us reach our goals." said Director of ASU Bands Michael Decuir.
This is the fourth time the Rams have been chosen to participate. The show will be on January 29th at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta.
