School system promo set to air at movie theater

ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The next time you go to the movies, you may see something new in the previews. It's  a promotion for the Dougherty County School System.

The ad highlights the system's improving graduation rate and decreasing drop out rate. Superintendent Dr. Joshua Murfree suggested the idea.

The first 30-second commercial highlights elementary and middle schools. The second focuses on high schools. The third features work support including food services and transportation.

"We want to build a pride of those in the system," said DCSS Public Information Director, R.D. Harter. "We want to support children and teachers and inform the parents and taxpayers that this is what you're getting."

The first promo will air November 19 in all 16 theaters in Albany, totaling 64 times a day. The money comes from the system's marketing budget.
