The Dougherty County Health Department is making it easy to get a pneumonia shot, a flu vaccine, a Tetanus, Diphtheria and Pertussis shot or the HPV vaccine. All are available at the Health Department's temporary booth at the Albany Mall. The booth is staffed everyday except Sunday over the next month to make it easy for the community to get the immunizations they need like the Whooping Cough vaccine.
"Lately in southwest Georgia there have been some cases of the Whooping cough so we felt like if we could get out in the community, educate them on the vaccine because amazingly the number of people that didn't know anything about this vaccine existing so we've been able to vaccinate quite a few," said Suzette Profit, LPN with the Dougherty County Health Department.
All the shots are free, except the flu shot which will cost you just 25 dollars. The Health Department's booth is right outside The Shoe Dept. on the main corridor. The booth is open Monday through Wednesday from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, from 1:00 PM until 6:00 PM Thursday and Friday and 1:00 PM until 7:00 PM Saturday.
