Commissioner calls for Ethics standards

By Jim Wallace - bio | email

ALBANY, GA (WALB) –   One Dougherty County commissioner wants a code of ethics for commissioners and county employees.

Right now commissioners and county employees do not have a written code of conduct and ethics.

Commissioner Gloria Gaines recommended the county have one drawn up, for all county officials and employees to sign.

"It's not criminal, but it could be unethical. We need to have a well defined understanding of the limits of our behavior. We need to know when we cross ethical lines," said Gaines.

Gaines said the state county government association has standard code of ethics that have been drawn up as a guide for Dougherty County.
