COOLIDGE, GA (WALB) –Coolidge firefighters say their station feels a little more like home after a generous donation from a furniture company.

Woodhaven Furniture Store in Coolidge donated $6,000 worth of furniture to the fire station.

Firefighters say the old furniture was falling apart because it had been there for almost 10 years. But they now have new tables, couches, a recliner, and beds to rest a little easier.

"Really, you spend a third of your life here basically," explains Jeff Carter, a firefighter and 1st responder with the station. "I mean, it's your home for a third of your life. So it's important to be comfortable and able to relax when there is time to get to relax."

Woodhaven Furniture employees say they gave the donation to show their appreciation of people who are so "dedicated and caring" in the community.
